Terms of Service
1. Who can use it
- You must be 18 or over. We verify your date of birth at registration and refuse anyone younger.
- You must be in a country where we operate. At present that is Portugal only. Attempting to bypass the country check is a breach of these terms.
- One account per person. Multiple accounts run by one person, particularly to farm referral rewards, will be closed.
2. What Project O2 is, and what it is not
Project O2 runs contests of skill and personal effort. Your target is derived from your own 30-day activity baseline, so you compete against your own established habits rather than against other people's fitness or against chance. Meeting the target is within your control.
Project O2 is not a betting service, a casino, a lottery, or a game of chance. No outcome is randomised. We do not accept wagers on events outside your control.
O2 is the sponsor and administrator of every contest. Contests are run by us, not by other users, even when a user has set one up. See the Official Rules.
3. How the money works
Your stake
When you enter a contest you stake a fixed entry amount. It moves from your wallet into escrow for that contest. It is not ours and it is not spendable by us; it is held for the contest.
If you finish
You get your entire stake back first. That is the floor, and it is paid before anything else. On top of it you receive a share of the surplus created by people who did not finish.
If you miss a day
You forfeit your stake. That is the mechanic, and it is the whole point: it is what makes the money you can win real. The forfeited amount goes to the people who finished, and to O2 as its fee.
What O2 takes
We take a share of forfeitures only, on a sliding scale, and we never take anything from the stake of somebody who finished. If nobody drops out, we earn nothing from that contest. Our incentive is deliberately aligned with you succeeding, and the exact percentages are shown in the app before you stake and are frozen for the contest at that moment.
Deposits and withdrawals
- Minimum deposit 10 EUR. Card deposits under 25 EUR carry a 0.50 EUR fee; bank transfers are free at any size.
- Minimum withdrawal 10 EUR. Standard bank transfer is free and arrives in about three business days. Instant withdrawal costs 1% with a 0.50 EUR minimum, which is the cost we are charged and pass on.
- Closing your account waives the minimum, so your last 3.40 EUR is not stranded.
- Withdrawals require a verified email address and, above legal thresholds, identity verification. This is anti-money-laundering law, not a preference of ours.
Credits
We sometimes give promotional credits, for example after your first missed race. Credits are euros of ours offered toward an entry. They cannot be bought, cannot be withdrawn, cannot be transferred, and expire 30 days after they are granted. If you close your account, unspent credits end with it. Real money and credits never mix: cash in a contest is returned as cash, and credit as credit.
4. Health data and your device
Your results are judged from daily totals your phone reports, which you approve. If your phone stops reporting, or you revoke the permission, or the data arrives late, your day may be judged as missed, and that is a real risk of a real-money contest that depends on a sensor. Keep the permission on and the app installed for the length of a race. See the Privacy Notice for what we do with the data.
5. Fair play
We check for fabricated activity. Attempting to feed the app data your body did not produce, whether by a treadmill-mounted phone, a shaking device, a simulator, or a modified app, is fraud against the other people in your contest, whose money is at stake. We may withhold a payout while we examine a flagged result, and we may close an account and refund the affected contest.
An automated system flags results; a person decides. No account is closed and no payout is withheld permanently by software alone.
6. Subscriptions
Premium is an optional auto-renewing subscription billed through Apple. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation. It renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends. Manage or cancel in your Apple ID settings; deleting the app does not cancel it. Unused time in a period is not refundable when you cancel, which is Apple's rule rather than ours.
7. When we may suspend or close an account
- You are under 18, or in a country we do not serve.
- Fabricated activity, or multiple accounts run by one person.
- A legal or anti-money-laundering obligation requires it.
If we close your account, money that is genuinely yours is returned to you. We do not keep balances as a penalty.
8. Beta software
Project O2 is currently in testing. Features may change, data may be reset with notice, and the service may be unavailable. If we reset a testing environment we return any real money first.
9. Liability
We provide the service with reasonable skill and care, but not on a promise of uninterrupted availability. We are not liable for losses caused by your device failing to record activity, by you losing access to your account, or by circumstances outside our reasonable control. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for your statutory rights as a consumer under Portuguese and EU law.
10. Health and responsible play
Project O2 encourages daily activity. It is not medical advice, and it is not designed for anyone whose health makes daily exertion unwise. Talk to a doctor before starting if you have any doubt. Do not stake money you cannot afford to lose, and do not chase a lost stake with a larger one. If you feel your use is becoming compulsive, close your account; the door is always open and your balance leaves with you.
11. Disputes and law
These terms are governed by Portuguese law, and the courts of Portugal have jurisdiction. As an EU consumer you keep the protections of your country of residence and may use the EU's Online Dispute Resolution platform. Contact us first at support@theprojecto2.com; most things are a misunderstanding we can fix.
12. Changes
The version and date are at the top. The app records which version you accepted. Material changes to the money rules will be put to you for acceptance rather than applied silently.
